Unexpected Blessings

If someone would have told me that (for no money involved) my satisfaction level with my home would be on the rise this weekend, I would have thought it impossible.  I am completely content with my home sweet home.  Or so I thought!

On Friday, we were given a lovely small end table from Bombay & Co. and some lamps!  We put the table in the living room with a lamp we already had.  Now when our small group comes, we will have a spot to put glasses and there will be proper lighting.  Just amazing!

One lamp is on the gaudy side, probably from the 50's, but it works and is helping a great deal in the family room as that room had only one lamp as well.

Another of the lamps, we put into Trevor's room.  I had forgotten that when we moved in, we only got him a small low watt lamp from Good Will and that is the only light the poor boy has read by for almost two years, as there are no overhead lights in the bedrooms!  But that is all changed now.  He has a regular sized lamp next to his bed.

Now onto the big ticket item, the hutch!  Remember that lovely table I had in the kitchen?  The one that seemed to have a sign on it indicating it as a spot in which to dump things and run?  Remember how I wanted a hutch?  Well, it has been provided and it was also FREE!

I can now even display a few of my Grandma's dishes and have a spot to put some other things we need handy.  Until now, I've been stashing extra food way up high in the hall closet as our kitchen is very cabinet challenged.  It was so in convenient!  (See, I did not know how unhappy I really was, until I had something better!)

Now, I am on the look-out for a small kitchen cart with a counter so that I can use it as another work station.  As I have lost a little "counter" space.   Although it really did not function as counter space very well.

Something like this...

Suprise Blessings

This past Saturday, we had the pleasure of visiting my father and step-mother in their new home.  Some may remember that they moved back to IN this past spring after being gone for 7 long years.  *smile*

Well, now they've moved into their permanent location, a lovely 2 acre homestead 2 hours SW of us.  What fun it was to walk about the place listening to my father's plans for bees, apple trees and garden boxes.  Truly, it is a lovely place.  I wish I had my camera back!  *sigh*

Here comes the blessing part of this post.  While we were there, my father GAVE Ryan his old laptop!  Ryan promptly installed Ubuntu and it is working quite well as a netbook!  Yippee!  Thank you, dear Dad!  We are so excited to have another computer.  I did not know that our other computers were so outdated. This new one is more powerful than our best desktop and that's saying a lot because this laptop is no spring chicken!

Rejoicing this morning that He is risen, indeed! May you have a wonderful day celebrating this most wonderful gift from above.

Here is my favorite song for your listening pleasure!

Thank You!

I need to express my thanks to you all.  A few months ago, I was very discouraged regarding the whole process of blogging. It seemed fewer and fewer of my online friends were blogging very much, turning to either Facebook or nothing at all.  I turly think the Spirit moved us to Blogger.  We've really got a nice little community here.  I appreciate all the comments and the time you take to visit often.  It may seem like a little thing, but it is very encouraging to me.

I also wanted to let you know that I am working on my second verse.  I am happy to announce that I have remained diligent in that effort.  It does take effort!  The gears in my brain are turning.  *gins*  I am thankful to be able to memorize verses.  I think of my grandma who no longer has that option.

Tomorrow I plan to post pictures from our whirlwind trip to the lake Saturday.  My husband's phone takes pretty good pictures outside, so I am thankful to him for making the time to take them for my blog. Here is a preview.

With a thankful heart,
Jenn

A Very Merry Christmas, Indeed!

James 1:16-18 (NKJV)

"Do not be deceived, my beloved brethren.  Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.  Of His own will He brought us forth by the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of His creatures."

I certainly feel blessed by the Father on this side of Christmas.  So  many indulgences were sent our way via our family.  A big thank you to all of you!

Greetings to You

"And the angel said to them, "Fear not, for behold, I bring you good news of a great joy that will be for all the people.  For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord."
Luke 2:10-11

Merry Christmas!!!

What is going on?

Last Sunday, my pastor said something that has stuck with me this week.  Roughly paraphrased, if the world says something is right, then we should first consider if doing the opposite would be more Christlike.  How many times have I done the opposite?  Homeschooling, selling our home to get debt free, leaving a nursing career, comes to my mind.
This leads me to wonder.  Is there something going on in your life, that viewed through the eyes of the “world”, doesn’t seem  right or good–yet seen through the “Goodness of God” point-of-view, you can see Him working in or through it?
Please comment and share!   And hugs to you on this journey called Faith!!!

Note of Praise

I have been contemplating finances this morning.  I don't think we've had a raise in more than 5 years, yet the big corporations have kept up their cost of living increases all this time!  I see increases in every thing I buy.  I am forced to do more with less and less.  I am not upset.  This gives me the opportunity to give all the glory to God in this area.  It has to be a God thing, for sure.  Makes me feel like the widow and her endless jug of olive oil sometimes.  I just don't know how else we are still able to spend less than we earn.
