On Friday, we were given a lovely small end table from Bombay & Co. and some lamps! We put the table in the living room with a lamp we already had. Now when our small group comes, we will have a spot to put glasses and there will be proper lighting. Just amazing!
One lamp is on the gaudy side, probably from the 50's, but it works and is helping a great deal in the family room as that room had only one lamp as well.
Another of the lamps, we put into Trevor's room. I had forgotten that when we moved in, we only got him a small low watt lamp from Good Will and that is the only light the poor boy has read by for almost two years, as there are no overhead lights in the bedrooms! But that is all changed now. He has a regular sized lamp next to his bed.
Now onto the big ticket item, the hutch! Remember that lovely table I had in the kitchen? The one that seemed to have a sign on it indicating it as a spot in which to dump things and run? Remember how I wanted a hutch? Well, it has been provided and it was also FREE!
I can now even display a few of my Grandma's dishes and have a spot to put some other things we need handy. Until now, I've been stashing extra food way up high in the hall closet as our kitchen is very cabinet challenged. It was so in convenient! (See, I did not know how unhappy I really was, until I had something better!)
Now, I am on the look-out for a small kitchen cart with a counter so that I can use it as another work station. As I have lost a little "counter" space. Although it really did not function as counter space very well.
Something like this...

I love that HUTCH... I dont know what I would do with out mine, it has been so useful for different things I have needed it for... I am sure you will see yours transform into many different kinda "storage" in the years to come...
ReplyDeleteI love the hutch! So beautiful. And I adore the odd collection of lambs...mostly cause thats what I have and each one of them has a story of how they came to light up our home. Our old home only has overhead lighting in 3 of the rooms ( two of which we have installed ourselves). It takes alot of lamps to light up a room. The tables are pretty too. We just found end tables this year. Like you we have bible study at our home. It truely is a pleasure to have places for people to put their drinks and stuff.
ReplyDeleteWhat great blessings. That hutch is beautiful. It's so great that you have the extra room for things like that. I'm so glad the Lord gave you those things. :)
ReplyDeleteHow neat! What a blessing!
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing. That Hutch is AMAZING!! Simply beautiful. I love the way you set it up as well.
ReplyDeleteJenn,
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing! That end table looks perfect there and hooray for the lamps. (That big one isn't that bad!) And the hutch! So sweet. Hooray for lovely surprises! :)
Ohhh, I love Bombay Company furniture...that is so pretty Jenn, and oh so nice to get lamps. We are lighting challanged in our familyroom too, and storage challanged (meaning we have too much stuff). And that hutch is so lovely...and free, what a steal. Now everyone can toss their stuff on the hutch and run...teehe.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely hutch! I love to hear how the Lord provides, even when we don't know we need it!
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely items you were gifted with!!! That hutch is so pretty, but I'm smitten with your "ugly" lamp. I think it's beautiful, which just proves the old adage that beauty is indeed in the eye of the beholder, lol.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely day!
O, I like your lamps and also that hutch. Blessing it was free.
ReplyDeleteProper lighting is so great and important. Here we have lamps with a Greek design.
The good old light bulbs are banned in the Netherlands. We now use only LED lights. Is not cozy, more expensive to buy but ... they are more durable.
I hope you soon have a small kitchen cart ... with a counter
Greetings.
Hi, Jenn!
ReplyDeleteWhat a blessing to start the new year with new 'stuff'! ha! It's all beautiful. I've been enjoying some new kitchen shelving as well and what a difference! I almost got the cart you pictured there from Ikea, but ended up with a smaller one with a drawer, small drop-leaf, white with butcher-block top and three shelves. I LOVE it, might be just what you need.
Happy organizing!
Wendy
Those are just lovely. I even like the gaudy lamp, heehe. I like modern design, but it is really pretty.
ReplyDeleteANd FREE makes everything just a little more awesome!!!
How exciting!!! I just love when I get "new" things for little or nothing! Yay! I love your gaudy lamp - it speaks to my heart. lol I love stuff like that. How wonderful you now have the end tables and lamps you need! That hutch is gorgeous! Isn't God SO amazing? He gives us exactly what we need and want. He is such a good God!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to be sharing something I got last week that I love! It will be on my Friday show and tell - come by and check it out!
Many blessings - Julie
